Mighties 19-65 The All-Stars overcame Jason Lee's 4 first-half three
pointers to gain a 30-19 halftime lead behind Quentin Wu's 20 points and
Newton Wong's 12. Wu and Wong would finish with 31 and 20 points each. Wu
also contributed 7 steals.
The Mighties had 4 players in double digits (Lee 14,
Derek Lau-17, Aaron Tom-17, Kevin Tom-11) but the All-Stars took advantage
of a quick transition offense thanks to Wu's steals and Bret Knobelauch's
13 boards and 3 blocks. Wesley Wong also recorded 3 blocks to give the All-Stars
7 as a team.
Jason Lee completed an all-around game with 7 rebounds,
3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Aaron Tom added 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
The Mighties, early fovorites to win it all behind
4-time champion Lee, was without big man, Michael Leung.
The All-Stars made
13 of 16 free throws in the second half.
A Neil Wong Breakout and the "Automatic" Doom Bolts Titans 30-67
Thunderbolts 33-61
Jeremy Lee and Neil Wong rallied the Titans past the Thunderbolts
by scoring 14 and 13 points each in the second half. Lee who finished with
27 points, also added 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Wong is the
"surprise of the
week" with 23 points for the game and 7 rebounds.
The T'Bolts were up 3 at the half but could not out-run the
Titans offensively. Gary Tran led the T'Bolts with 18 points but 10 of those
came in the first half. James Sun single-handedly kept the T'Bolts close
with 14 second
half points. Sun finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Menh Voong chipped
in with 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Jugs Win "I Can Do Better" Contest Juggernauts 34-72
Skyrockets 32-60
In a game of spurts, the Juggernauts prevailed with
individual moments as different players took turns to have their individual
runs; Kim Tek (16 pts, 5 rebs) knocked down 4 three pointers in the first
half to give the Jugs the lead for good. The Skyrockets retaliated with
Henry
Chow's
back-to-back
three pointers to keep things close. In the second half, Kelvin Chu (27 pts,
9 rebs) attacked the basket repeatedly to help the Jugs run away with
the game but Previn
Graham (24 pts, 6 rebs, 3 blks) answered with crucial three pointers to keep
the Skyrockets in the game. Then Marcus Hung's 3 consecutive jumpers
over Graham and cold Skyrockets shooting
gave
the Jugs a comfortable 10-point lead for good in the final 2 minutes.
Hung finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Chow
scored 10 points.
